People are often drawn to things that serves as outlet for feeling they have inside. It can be through music, writing, dance. There are no limitations ad restriction just put the heart on those activities and sure a feeling of relief would come afterward. Painting is also something one uses to express feeling into and it has so many styles, ways and patterns. The number of things people could use as subject on their canvas is endless. True that being able to paint is a talent but it does not necessarily mean that those who are not born at it could not give it a shot. It may be hard at the beginning but all things that are done through effort and constant practice would eventually progress. Before jumping ahead to painting ideas, one must know that ensuring a pretty result means using quality medium and materials. There is no need to feel pressured on this because there is no such thing as perfect for beginners and perfect for professionals, just choose one that feels comfortable and one is all set. Trying different products till the perfect medium of preference are found may be possible.

For beginners, watercolors, acrylic paints, oils paints anything may be chosen. Watercolors are often cheaper compared to the other materials, this can cost as low as twenty dollars to a hundred dollar tops. Though, for such material, special papers are required, those that does not wrinkle when liquid touches its surface.

Acrylic are fast drying, pretty much perfect for those who want it less messier. These paints are often water based, they can get stacked on the canvas but when there needs to have corrections, then wiping is possible. But for beginners, this may be hard to manipulate specially when it comes to blending. Oil paints are pretty much the most expensive out of the three but this have the richest color and superb quality. When the paint dries it usually is close enough to the actual hue when it is still wet.

Brushes are as important as the quality of medium about to get used. There are certain things to consider when choosing the brush. First is the shape of the bristle and second is the material that is used for it. There are so many possible types and shape of brushes, it is important to remember that for watercolors, round brush are the best suited. For acrylic, synthetic ones are perfect and for oil painting, a synthetic mix with a fiber tip.

Now, begin with looking for any inspiration. It is best to start painting on something that is quite visible than of imagination. Go to places with beautiful scenery like beach, parks and so on.

No rules when painting, whatever shape and color is in mind, do so. Nothing is considered ugly, all are masterpieces because it is made up of pure effort and emotion. It would as well be great to start with abstract ones.

However, for color combination, a slight background knowledge about color wheel is helpful. One can easily mix up two or more colors to create the shade or hue one needs. Though, if not familiar with this one, it can be searched through the web for visual representation.
