By Carl Jackson

Most academic institutions have become a second home for students. This is because every person has to spend at least one-fourth of their entire lifetime in school thus it is not uncommon to find that people may feel emotionally attached to them. The best of these memories are created especially by the school mascot murals which are painted on the walls of almost all the institutions.

The wall graphics are a tradition in most academic facilities, and every academy has its unique paintings. They are very effective means of communication from the faculties to the students. Usually, these visual symbols help the leaner to understand things faster because of the human brain processes paintings quicker than text. People are more attracted to pictures compared to written text.

The good-luck-pieces on the wall usually support the collective identity of an institution. It creates a sense of belonging and attachment to the place thus giving a personal motivation. Just like the way people identify themselves with their ethnicity, age-groups, and citizenship, the school mascots act as a collective identity for students.

The wall paintings usually build the pride of a institution as well as the spirit to continue excelling. The motto, logos, colors, and slogans are useful icons that the organizations identify themselves with. On top of that, the images depict how the academy upholds its standards and pride, making students eager to learn. This makes them more intelligent and responsible.

Another important factor is that the graphics usually promotes sportsmanship. Sports are huge events that bring people together especially in the learning institutions. Sports represent a tie to all these students no matter the differences in their grades, classes and even their focus on study. The wall symbols become motivating slogans to do well in sports and bolster the unity of these students.

No institution does not have tradition and culture. In the same way, academic institutions have cultures and traditions that make it have its legacy. Good morals and character of these leaner are mostly acquired from the institutions because that is the place they spend most of a day in. Thus, the leaner grow up to be very responsible people.

These wall symbols create special moments and memories, and most students hold on to them a long time after they graduate. The reason behind this is that the visual graphics usually live for many generations thus every person who went through that institution can still remember them vividly. The drawings tell the origin of the school in a symbolic way and act as a lucky charm for the academy as well as these students.

These paintings tend to create a positive impact on people that will live for a lifetime. They instill morals to these students and make them better, sharper and more responsible people in the society. This is because there are so many other things that develop the character of the student apart from education. Most of these acquired attributes influence the life of the student in the long run.
