Essential Guide To Pool Maintenance

By Arthur Bennett

There are many activities usually carried out either for recreation, fun as well as exercise. Others are done as a recommendation by medics to lose weight and maintain their body in good shape. One of these activities includes the swimming. It is an exercise loved by many as it helps exercise the entire body at a go. Therefore, if you own a swimming pool, you need to maintain it well for the service it offers. To ensure it is in the best condition then you need to know some of these basics on pool maintenance.

Most of the people rely on their service provider for the maintenance services, and this is not wrong. Nevertheless, there are some sensitive things that you need to keep check personally. These includes the condition of the water to prevent accumulation of dirt which can be a health hazard and cause danger.

There is a tendency of pipes breaking. If this is not checked frequently, then a great damage can be caused. Sometimes these pipes may break without your knowledge. Leaking may be there but in a very limited way. This is the reason why you should keep a close check up as the property owner, despite the fact that you have service providers.

Always check the level of the water in the facility. There is that level it should reach, and therefore, it should not overflow or be too little. The check can be done at least twice a month. If you find it too low, you can check for possibilities of leakages and add water to the desired level. Again if it is to the brim, you can release the excess water.

Also, you are responsible for the cleaning of your system. If this is not done in a thorough way, then you will start experiencing the algae issues. It is mostly found on the stairs or tiles. If you experience such, then you need to scrub the affected areas thoroughly.

The systems should be free from excess air. This is because such a case may cause the pumps to run dry and end up freezing. Remember that this will cause you more expenses in replacing them. Air can be caused by leaking pumps. You can check this by observing the water flow in and out of the pipes. If you observe many bubbles, then your pipes are at risk.

The water should be treated to avoid any contamination. The chlorine used should be the right amount to avoid raising the water PH which can be hazardous. Ensure the PH level is above 7.2 and not exceed 8.0. That is the ideal level to kill any germs, and it is not harmful to human body.

Finally, ensure you keep your facility clean always. It will be fun to swim, and it will offer the full benefits that come with it. Proper maintenance will also reduce unnecessary costs that come with maintenance. Also, ensure it is free from debris which can cause clogging of pipes and make it dirty. You can prevent this by installing an automatic vacuum system.
