Fundamentals Of Environmentally Friendly Clothing

By Minnie Whitley

Our choice of clothes tells volumes about both our mannerisms and determines how comfortable we are. It does not mind the taste of a person in terms of fashion. What matters is that at the end of the day we all embrace environmentally friendly clothing. We need not to buy clothes merely because they fit us or because they are our favorite color. The bottom line is their suitability to the given need.

First to consider is the weather. Depending on your geographical location, you will need to have clothes that can fit the weather conditions in your area. Some people are so crazy about sweaters and coats that they cannot spare them even on a furnace hot day. No matter how hot it becomes, they are not willing to remove the heavy clothes and put on light ones.

Another category comprises of people who are always dressed in light materials. For most ladies, attires that reveal some parts of the body are taken to be trendy. It is thus not a surprise to find a woman in a mini skirt and a sleeveless blouse on an ice cold day. These kinds of sacrifices are not worth making as people need to value the need to stay healthy by choosing to dress in a way that diseases that are caused by bad weather can be kept at bay.

The weather conditions aside, clothes are also considered to be environmentally friendly if they are made of the right materials. This is an era where technology is really advancing. People therefore have the free will of choosing from a variety of materials. Still, there is need to choose materials that are recyclable and safely disposable.

Cloth designers have been using cotton for many years other materials like silk and polyester can also be added in proportions. All these are in an attempt to eradicate environmentally unfriendly substances. Resources are thus preserved. Conservation of resources is done by recycling old garments and using the materials to make new ones.

The priority of usage should inform your choice of clothes to keep in your wardrobe. Unnecessary ones can be removed to relieve the space. In order to avoid pollution, form a habit of keeping only the items that you need and disposing the unwanted ones. With time, you will have little to get rid of and this leads to conservation.

The people we meet in our daily encounters make our environment. When someone is in a given outfit, some people become annoyed. For example, there are men who do not like ladies in trousers or miniskirts. The occasion should therefore be the key determining factor of how a person dresses and not their preferences. Chances of being accepted are higher if you are always relevant to the theme and function.

Consequentially, the way you appear before people forms a basis for how they judge you. Grooming should be taken both as an art and as a science. As an art; it takes care of the aesthetic value of our surrounding and as a science; it ensures that we consider the safety of our surrounding as we make our clothing choices.
