The Most Comical Real Estate Humor

By Kevin Ierardi

Working in the property market can be stressful at times. This is not an every day occurrence because some people still find time to create the best real estate humor in the most unexpected places. This includes bill boards where the adverts are placed and punning the information provided about a property. Others are in images showing property for sale or rent.

The websites proving such fun allow those searching for property to chuckle, chortle, guffaw, giggle and laugh as they buy, sell or let. The updates are on daily basis or as regular as possible. The pun delivered through such jokes lightens the mood especially when the search is tiresome. It offers comic relief to those working in the industry by lifting the gloom that hovers over a slow market.

Most of the comic utterances made seek to reveal the irony that is part of the industry. A common property market joke is one where a seller withdrew a house from the market because the agent had made an advert so good that it made him change his mind. This shows how advertising can work against you.

Neighbors and pets have added a lot of comic relief to property market players. Agents use them to justify the value of houses only for a naughty kid to pull an act during a visit with the client. Real estate jokes thrive on the reason for selling a house. For old homes, it is difficult to understand the reason for the sale when you read the description given on the advert.

The use of cartoon characters has increased the fun of real estate humor. The fun is in the form of story lines or single captions. They critique the information given on some houses which means that they can only be available in fantasy land. The differences in the house on the photograph and the one on the ground makes one wonder if the decimal was placed in the wrong place.

Technology is used to add humor where an animal like a lizard is superimposed on a sign written TO LET and turns it in to TOILET. Another funny caption is where a woman complains about lack of apps for cooking, cleaning the house and laundry yet there are apps for practically anything else. This is the funny side of the property market.

There is variety in real estate humor and the trick has been effective in capturing visitors for the agents. Visitors looking for property are attracted to stay longer within the site and therefore can see more of what is on offer. Incorporation of images, graphics and photos provides diversity.
